For our younger generation of Singaporeans, yesterday May 13th was perhaps just another ordinary day in the passing. For those who have lived through the pre and post independence period in Singapore’s history, one would remember that 39 years ago on May 13th, there were a spillover of communal violence in Malaysia into Singapore caused by the results of the General Elections at Kuala Lumpur marked by Sino-Malay riots.
