Yesterday morning at 5.30am, when most of Singapore was still asleep, the Esplanade was a flurry of activites as it saw the flag-off of the full marathon (42.195km) with international runners at the line up. Once again, it was the Kenyans who dominated the winner’s podium in the men’s category. Pace-maker Elijah Mbogo won the race in a record time of 2:14:22 while the 2nd and 3rd placings went to his fellow Kenyan compatriots. In the womens category, Alem Ashebier from Ethiopia took first place while two other Kenyans filled up the 2nd and 3rd placings.
