Make your photos look like pro

Sharing an article from this morning’s Today newspaper especially for shutterbugs.

Now, basic Photoshop is free and available online
You can now tweak your digital photos online and show them off on your blog or Facebook profile using Adobe’s online version of Photoshop. Dubbed Photoshop Express www.photoshop.com/express, the free online service lets users crop, rotate and apply visual effects to their images. Adobe also provides a roomy 2GB of online storage so you can upload and store your photos. It caters to web-savvy users familiar with editing and sharing photos online on websites such as Flickr
(www.flickr.com) and Shutterfly (www.shutterfly.com). The regular version of Photoshop requires users to install the software on their computer and is designed for advanced users or professionals. The free, basic online version has been tweaked to make it easier to use. Photoshop Express is web-based and currently in beta. It uses Adobe’s Flash technology so users can use the web application as long as they have access to an Internet browser with the Flash plug-in installed.

The firm is not the first to launch a photo-editing service online: Websites such as Picnik (www.picnik.com) and Snipshot (www.snipshot.com) also offer such services. Adobe hopes that users will migrate from Photoshop Express to its paid and more advanced palette of image-editing software. A subscription-based online service is also in the pipeline. Such Web-based software is convenient because they are accessible from any computer hooked up to the Internet and usage is usually free. — HEDIRMAN SUPIAN
