LaSalle College of the Arts

A road, street, bridge or building does not take your name unless there has been an exceptional prominence of your contributions to society. Stamford Road was named after Sir Stamford Raffles who founded Singapore in 1819. Kim Seng Road named after Mr Tan Kim Seng who was a Straits Chinese merchant and public benefactor in Singapore in the nineteenth century. Cashin Street located off North Bridge Road named after Mr Joseph William Cashin, whose grandson Mr Howard Cashin was one of Singapore’s well known legal eagles.

Speak of LaSalle College of the Arts and the name of Brother Joseph McNally comes to mind. Born in 1923 in Ballintubber, Ireland, Brother Joseph McNally who was from the Catholic LaSalle Brotherhood, dedicated 37 years of his life teaching in Malaysia and Singapore. His works and untiring dedication in the arts gained him recognition as a renowned sculptor and artist. He founded LaSalle College of the Arts and was its president from 1984 to 1997. Here’s a photographic tour of the campus where the street was named after him and the institution he founded.

Hi, I’m an architecture student in Kuala Lumpur currently researching the LaSalle College. I was wondering if you have a higher resolution version of the image of the campus directory (https://blogofsorts.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/dscn0004.jpg), as it would be invaluable to my research. Thanks!
